Mike spent his childhood traveling in an army family from Maryland to Germany, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia, and back to Germany before settling in Clarksville, TN. Mike taught for 14 years before becoming an instructional supervisor. He earned his doctoral degree before retiring with 30 years service for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.
Mike visits nearly 75 schools and conferences across America and Europe each year spreading the message that Reading IS Magic!
Elizabeth Simmons

Elizabeth received a M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and Specialist in Secondary Administration from Delta State University. She is the School Library Specialist at the Mississippi Department of Education. A strong advocate in bridging the information literacy gap, she works with teachers, librarians, and administrators to bring the library to the forefront of curriculum. Her professional interests focus on incorporating new technology into everyday academics.

Ellen Hunter Ruffin is the Curator of the de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection at The University of Southern Mississippi. A longtime member of ALSC, Ruffin has served on the Newbery Committee, the Legacy Award Committee, Arbuthnot Committee, and is serving her last term as the ALA Councilor for the state of Mississippi.
